The singing group Kadanka

Let us sing a song, nurse the soul, feel the welfare of all people in one tone, in one magnificent voice, which encompasses all the pain and sacrifice of our people, all the beauty of our country to reflect as a sun, as the brightest sun ever. Gratitude to the Almighty for this gift he has blessed us with, this strong voice to sing, to warm hearts, to think and act only goodness.

People have always sung, they sang at weddings, for celebrating the major holidays; This singing, later, grew into a cult. The first organized singing groups in Vevcani were "Lazarki” singing from house to house during the holiday Lazarus, and that was the beginning of the singing group which later began to be known as “Kadanka”.

The singing group "KADANKA" was established in the autumn of 2007. Namely, that year, the CAA "Drimkol" decided at the annual concert held every year on 11 January, for the first time to present an all-night solo program without presence of guests from other places. Thinking about filling the breaks during the show, when the dancers change costumes and they rest their soul for a moment, the leadership of the association decided to form a singing group that will perform native songs.

The idea was accepted with great pleasure by all the members of CAA "Drimkol." The group was formed by electing the most talented female dancers of the first group, and female dancers of the veterans of the association who had exceptional vocal capabilities.

The first members of the female singer group "Kadanka" were: Bogoeska Natasha, Bebekoska Leposava, Duckinoska Olivera, Shekutkoska Elizabeta, Partaloska Daniela, who in highly professional manner sang the first songs: "Ajde kerko vo Vevcani" "Stojno le stokole" "Ej Gjorusice" .

Their appearance on the show was a real surprise, and even more satisfying was that the group continues to function after the concert.

At present, "Kadanka" is an integral part of the folklore ensemble. Besides supporting the ensembles on stage through a set of songs that are part of the choreography, this singing group performs independently with its own repertoire, and takes actively part in the programs of all the artistic entities operating within the CAA "Drimkol."

Today in "Kadanka" sing male vocal performers as well, making it a mixed vocal group of enthusiasts – artists, who with unique love and enthusiasm nourish the Macedonian folk singing.

Some members of the singing group, “Kadanka " are, today, solo singers of the Music Academy in Skopje.
